Weekend Youth Emerge Victorious in 1st Annual Napa SoFi Battle of the Bands
The first official Napa SoFi Battle of the Bands has come and gone, and Weekend Youth took home the big prize! Performing at 2:30 on the Do Napa Stage on Franklin Street, Weekend Youth wowed the crowd with all of their catchy and energetic songs. When the voting was done and the people had spoken, Weekend Youth were the winners and current champions of Napa. In celebration, they took the stage again that evening for their victory set at the historic Uptown Theater.
The event will go down as a success. There was a void left in town when Porchfest announced it would not be happening in 2024 and this Battle of the Bands certainly filled the void. Featuring over 20 bands in 5 different venues in the SoFi district downtown, the people came out in droves to support the local music scene. Many of the staples of the Napa music scene performed, including Mama Said, Change! Pop, Slippery People, Eggcorn, Last Pleasure and many more. It was also a great place to showcase some of the new and upcoming younger bands such as second place band Noetic Pause from Sonoma.
Will the battle return next year? We hope so. Porchfest also set to be back next year, so there might need to be some calendar reshuffling, but there is definitely room in town for both events.
